LOCAL CULTURAL & HERITAGE ATTRACTIONS
Dartmouth Castle
Dartmouth castle has stood for 600 years as the guardian of the Dart
estuary. It was one of the most advanced fortresses of its time and
positioned superbly to protect Dartmouth’s wealthy medieval merchants.
Enjoy the many tales that can be found of the castle from the Tudor
period and civil war, up to WWII and beyond, including a fully recreated
Victorian gun battery. The beautiful grounds also form the ideal location
to watch the river or to picnic. Or, why not travel by water to the
castle?

Dartmouth Pottery
Dartmouth Pottery, situated in the south Devon town of Dartmouth, was established in 1947 and is still operating. Their products are similar in many respects to traditional Devon wares. To many people 'Dartmouth Pottery' means mottoware, gurgling jugs and monochrome flower holders. Yet their products were infinitely more diverse, ranging from beautiful art pottery to finely moulded toby jugs and sporting tankards. More recently, the company's moulded wares included money boxes and models in the form of animals and birds. These can be found at antique fairs and flea markets and make an interesting area of collecting at 'affordable' prices.
Dartmouth Tourist Information
